4.    Sergio "The myth" Oliva

sergio oliva, bodybuilder , mr olympia , the myth , huge arms biceps

Born in Cuba on July 4, 1941 In 1963 Oliva moved to Chicago, Illinois. There he worked at a local steel mill and began working out at the Duncan YMCA. Working 10-12 hour days at the steel mill and putting in another 2.53 hours at the gym gave Oliva very little time for anything else. Soon the bodybuilding grapevine was abuzz with gossip about a Cuban powerhouse who lifted more than any of the local Olympic champs. Oliva won his first bodybuilding competition the Mr. Chicagoland contest in 1963. Then he was successful again at the Mr. Illinois in 1964 but he lost in 1965 at the AAU Jr. Mr. America winning 2nd place even though he won the trophy for "Most Muscular." In 1966, he won the AAU Jr. Mr. America and again he claimed the trophy for "Most Muscular". He then joined the International Federation of BodyBuilders IFBB in which he won both the professional Mr. World and Mr. Universe Contests. In 1967 he won the prestigious Mr. Olympia contest, making him the undisputed world champion of bodybuilding.
Oliva then went on to win the Mr. Olympia title three years in a row, at 5 feet 11inches and at a contest weight that went from 235 lbs up to his most massive at 255 lbs. Oliva's 1968 Mr Olympia win was uncontested. A Guinness World Record that stands to this day. In 1969 he won his 3rd consecutive Mr Olympia by beating a Mr Europe, Mr International and Four time Mr Universe winner Arnold Schwarzenegger. Arnold tells of their first encounter in his 1977 autobiography 'Arnold the Education of a Bodybuilder.' "Then for the first time, I saw Sergio Oliva in person. I understood why they called him the Myth. It was as jarring, as if I'd walked into a wall. He destroyed me. He was so huge, he was so fantastic, there was no way I could even think of beating him. I admitted my defeat and felt some of my pump go away. I tried. But I'd been so taken back by my first sight of Sergio Oliva that I think I settled for 2nd place before we walked out on the stage... I never like to admit defeat, but I thought Sergio was better. There were no two ways about it.

Sergio Oliva died on November 12, 2012 in Chicago, Illinois from apparent kidney failure. He was 71. His death marks the first passing of any of the Mr. Olympia title holders.

Body Building: Best bodybuilding tips for Beginners - Angela's Blog

SKIPPING WORKOUTS IS A PUNISHABLE ACT :

best bodybuilding tipsFirst things first ! Never ever skip your workouts! Especially when youre a beginner! The fact is, when you are new at bodybuildng, your body starts to gain new muscles and that too within a very less time and continues to grow as long as you are punctual and not skipping any days to the gym ! Skipping workouts breaks this rhythm and hence the growth itself and the results will be disappointing and at the end youll be unwilling to go to the gym. So, the solution I come up as a best remedy is, get a PARTNER with whom you can go to the gym and workout together. It will keep you occupied and will help you to stick to the schedule.

WHAT YOU EAT IS WHAT YOU BECOME :

best bodybuilding tips eat dietIt is said that bodybuilding is 60% what your workout and 50%  what you eat , yes that makes 110% and thats exactly what youll have to give it not just 100%. So the point is, no matter how hard you workout in the gym, lift heavy dumbbells and run like hell (in case of shredding) that wont single handedly build up your body if youre not taking your meals properly! Diet is as important as lifting weights in the gym to build up muscles. Here are few tips for a beginner to see maximum results within minimum time

  •  Take 6 to 7 meals a day
  • Morning meal should be the heaviest and carbohydrate rich and the meal taken before bed should be light.
  •  Drink lots of fluids!! (avoid alcoholic and soda drinks of course)
  • Eat clean food with high protein content
  • Do not be empty stomach.
CORRECT POSTURE :

best bodybuilding tips posture I know when you read this term, you must be thinking about the same boring tips everyone gives you about bodybuilding. But ! my friend, if you pay attention and understand this important term  and go a lil more deeply into it youll understand how much worth it has got in everyday workout. Everyone wants to lift heavy weights, thats okay !  but that doesnt  mean youll risk your posture for it. Rookie/beginners bodybuilders ignore the fact and jumps to heavy weights and aren't able to perform the exercise in the right manner as they should be performed and hence, gets injured or cannot get the best out of them. So, some benefits of maintaining a correct posture and doing the exercise in the right manner are that one can avoid injuries, exercising in right manner can help one self in concentrating on the specific part they are working on rather than the other body parts.

best bodybuilding tips recovery growthSLEEP LIKE HELL :

After being regular to the gym for days with lots of weight lifting  and sweating, its time for your to relax ! Take a day off and sleep! All the soreness of muscles will come to an end on this day, sleep like hell then wake up!! Eat whole lot of meat and green veggies and protein shakes > and sleep again!! The main purpose of this day is to repair your muscles.

best bodybuilding tips roids juices drugSTAY NATURAL : NO JUICY TRAPS :

There are no shortcuts to size. People who are new at bodybuilding are generally naive and have no information to this profession and the nutrition supplements involved, so they are most likely to get targeted by their trainers/coach into these banned practices of taking juices/steroids. These trainers create a false image in persons mind of a perfect body that they aim to achieve in a very less time and effort to which one agrees being naive and doesnt realise the real image behind it. These  practices can cause several side effects and disorders like organ failures, they can shrink your balls and can cause harm to your gonads, other side effects include skin allergies, failure of liver organ, facial hair growth, short temperedness, baldness and  much more. So be natural and be happy the way you are, the way god created you.
