Paige Lilly is really a changed woman, in and out.

The 24-year-old from Whitehall had spent years on a diet of take out and endured chronic pain, anxiety and depression.

But, a single of life's unexpected turns, she discovered a fresh passion that changed her life completely — weight-lifting.

She's transformed her body and from now on competes (and wins) in national bodybuilding competitions.

"It goes deeper," Lilly says. "My life is different."

While she always a stable weight, Lilly struggled throughout her young life using a bad self-image, anxiety and depression, worsened by bullying in education.

"I wasn't happy with the best way I looked," Lilly says.

She started to ride horses and, like many individuals who ride, found a highly effective release from daily stress.

"They were my outlet," Lilly says from the horses.

But that pursuit was short-lived. In 2011 she a riding accident and stayed with chronic pain.

"I still existed unable to walk or perform activities without severe pain," she says. "I just handled the pain."

Combine the chronic joint pain using a diet that was comprised of daily take out meals and practically no nutritious foods. She ate doughnuts in the morning, takeaway food for lunch and pizza for supper nearly every day.

Her pain continued and she or he sought answers from doctors, who at some time thought she will often have rheumatoid arthritis. She would do one thing to relieve her pain.

"I was really prescribed prednisone at some time in time," Lilly says. "I traveled to multiple doctors appointments in an attempt to figure out the ceaseless pain and that which you could do in order to help relieve it."

She was sick and tired. Desperate to feel good, she got a thought — for getting her body moving. She found some exercise DVDs and did start to work out in the home.

She also took a lengthy hard look at her diet and seen that what she was eating likely contributed to how she felt, in and out.

"One day I thought to myself: Maybe it's all of the junk I'm eating," she says.

She cleaned up her daily meals and centered on lean proteins, grains and fruit and veggies.

Two months later, she looked completely different and felt best of all.

"Cardio, yoga, and pilates were activities and I loved my clean diet," Lilly says. "No more pain."

She felt so excellent that she planned to continue exercising. She visited a gym and started lift, with guidance from the coach she hired, Victor Gonzales, who competed in bodybuilding shows.

"We trained together too many times per week," Lilly says. "The stronger I got, the less pain I had. Then someone talked about if I ever thought competitive bodybuilding."

So she started in on it. And she started to win.

In August 2015, she won the Novice Overall title in their own division at the show in New Jersey; her American Natural Bodybuilding Federation Pro Card; and third from the OCB Nationals.

And that's exactly the start. This year she was named the National Physique Committee NY Capitol Overall Novice Bikini Champion. She took home beginning at the Lehigh Valley Championships held with the Scottish Rite Cathedral in May then a fourth place from the prestigious NPC Universe show.

She also just graduated from Penn State having a bachelor's degree running a business and recently became certified as being a specialist in sports nutrition and training.

At an up to date visit to Gold's Gym in Allentown, she bench-pressed nearly 100 pounds with no trouble and using a smile for my child face.

Life is altogether different (and) for Lilly.

"Health and fitness have completely changed my well being," Lilly says. "I am now the healthiest I have ever been. I am a completely person. Not only has proper fitness and nutrition solved the problem, they have now inspired me to help my knowledge like this of life so that you can help others."
