Mr. Kansas Uses Passion of Bodybuilding for Positive Things

TOPEKA (KSNT) – At 22 years old, Qadir Green has already accomplished so much in his life, including garnering the title Mr. Kansas

“To have that state title, it’s a true blessing,” Green said. “I don’t know if I’m the youngest Mr. Kansas there’s ever been, but that was one of my goals.”

A goal he has had, since he started body building 7 years ago and thanks to his work ethic and the support he’s got from his peers, Green has become one of the up-and-coming body builders to hit the scene.

“This is my passion,” Green said. “This is what I love to do, and I just can’t wait to move forward from here.”

Awards aside though, it’s been an up and down journey for Green, involving getting into some suffering

“There’s a lot of pain involved,” Green said, “But it’s a good pain, it’s an addiction, a healthy addiction.”

He also uses this sport to get out of pain as well.

“Bodybuilding gives me something to focus on than these other things that are going on in the world,” Green said. “A lot of negative things going on in the news, when I come in here, when I touch the weights, I forget about all of that.”

With that combined, that’s what has made Green the man he is today.

“To see the journey that he’s come from then to now” said Samantha Stuart, a friend of Green. “To see him win that and to see his facial expression and to see how happy he was just phenomenal for me.”

Green will make his professional debut on November 12th.
